Double A Marketing BMX Press Release
ABA Southwest Nationals Las Cruces, New Mexico May 15-16, 1999
Round 10 of the 1999 ABA Pro National Tour was held this past weekend. A
great track layout was appreciated by all of the riders, but the windy, dusty
conditions during the race took its toll on the excitement of this race. With
a huge Pro turnout, making the Pro mains was tougher than ever. Here is how
the Double A Marketing Pro's in attendance did:
Thomas Allier is the man right now in BMX. Leading pro points in Both ABA and
NBL is no easy task, but its one that Thomas is gladly doing. Thomas almost
had a perfect weekend, winning AA Pro both days and Pro open on Saturday.
Thomas was going for 4 wins for 4 main events, until he was run off the track
during the Pro Open main on Sunday. Thomas was so dominant, he won all 3 of
the pro mains both days in AA for the overall. Thomas sponsors include
GT/WD-40, Panasonic Shock Wave, Chevy Trucks, Oakley, Vans, Dyno, TAL 5, AXO,
ATI, Headlock, Powerbar, Champion Nutrition/Revenge,Troy Lee Designs,
Shimano, and Easton.
Jamie Staff continues his dominance in the Pro ranks with making all 4 Pro
mains in New Mexico. Jamie's top finish was 3rd in AA Pro on Saturday. The
rest of his results were, a 5th in AA on Sunday, along with 8th and 7th in
Pro Open. Consistency is the key to a BMX Title, and Jamie is doing a great
job of doing that and being in the main events. Jaime's Sponsors include
Haro, Adidas, Lee Pipe Jeans, Fox, Champion Nutrition/Revenge, ODI, Shimano,
Kicker, Mavic, Chris King, Oakley, DV8 Clothing, Powerbar, Headlock, Marwi,
and Profile.
Randy Stumpfhauser rode strong and wound up in 3 out of the 4 Pro mains this
weekend. Saturday saw Stumpy finishes 6th in the Pro Open class. On Sunday,
Randy fought off the wind and made both AA Pro and Open, placing 4th and 5th
overall. Randy's secret wind training up in Fresno helped play a big part
during the mains on Sunday. Randy's Sponsors include Huffy, Oakley, Airwalk,
Champion Nutrition/Revenge, Head lock, Fox, ATI, Sun Rims, Marwi, Shimano,
CTI, Crupi, Powerbar, Easton, Tioga, Craftsman, and Profile.
Robert MacPherson has had a great season so far as he currently sits 3rd
overall in the ABA points. New Mexico was no exception as he powered his way
into the main on Saturday, and placed 5th in AA. On Sunday morning, Robert
crashed in the first motto while leading, and was run over by another rider.
Robert tried to race through the pain, but had to sit out as it was too much.
He will be back in the ABA title chase come next national. Robert's Sponsors
include Diamond Back, Answer, Crupi, ATI, Vans, Tioga, Bell, Knucklebone,
Oakley, Odyssey, Powerbar, Marwi, Profile, Champion Nutrition/Revenge,
Headlock, and Troy Lee Designs.
Jason Donnell was having the makings of a good weekend as he was in the AA
Main on Saturday and finished 4th in the he first main. In main number two,
Jason was caught by the wind and crashed. When he went down, another rider
could not avoid him and wound up running into his face and knocking Jason
momentarily out. Jason was taken to the Hospital where it was determined that
he suffered a concussion and he spent the night for observation. Jason was
released, and returned home to Orange, CA. He is feeling a lot better as of
Monday morning. Lets all be thankful for that. Jason's sponsors include
Huffy, Craftsman, Fox, Easton, Shimano, Spanky Tires, Crupi, Profile, Sun
Rims, Airwalk, THE, Epic, Answer, Headlock, Power Bar, Troy Lee Designs,
Marwi, ODI, and Champion Nutrition/Revenge.
