ABA Gold Cup Championships Central

The ABA held the last of the Gold Cup championships this past weekend in sedalia, Missouri. Notorious for a small, indoor arena and almost impossible to win from the outside lanes, the ABA did their best to build a fair and fun track. With only 3 pro races left for the 99 season, points were crucial towards the overall #1 Pro title. All the winners at the Gold Cup received a Gold Cup number plate by ATI, and a custom Pad by THE. Here is how the Double A Marketing Pros in attendance did:

Christophe Leveque can now add another Gold Cup Championship title to his list, as he was the big winner on Sunday. Christophe won 2 out of the 3 Pro Gold Cup titles this season, as he is on a quest to hold onto his #1 ABA Pro title. Christophe finished 4th in AA and 8th in open on Saturday, as well as 2nd in Pro open on Sunday. Christophe's sponsors include Specialized/Mountain Dew, Crupi, Vans, Powerbar, ATI, Fox, Oakley, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Troy Lee Designs, Speed Stick, Sun Rims, and Spanky Tires.

Robert MacPherson has been at the top of the ABA points all season, and Sedalia helped him push further up as he placed 2nd in AA Pro on Saturday. On Sunday, Big Mac was in both of the pro mains, placing 3rd in Open and 4th in AA. Robert is looking to win his second ABA #1 Pro Title at the end of this season. Robert's Sponsors include Diamondback, Answer, Crupi, ATI, Vans, Bell, Knucklebone, Oakley, Odyssey, Powerbar, Marwi, Profile, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Beverly Hills Polo Club, Headlock, and Troy Lee Designs.

Thomas Allier can also add Gold Cup Champion to his list of titles as he was the big winner both days in Pro Open. On Saturday, Thomas was up for winning overall in AA Pro, but a slide out kept him to 3rd overall. Look for Thomas to be up front at the remainder of the nationals. Thomas' sponsors include GT, Panasonic Shock Wave, Chevy Trucks, WD-40, Oakley, Dyno, Tal 5, AXO, ATI, Vans, Headlock, Powerbar, Shimano, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Troy Lee Designs, Beverly Hills Polo Club, and Easton.

Wade Bootes had a perfect weekend as he entered 2 pro classes and made both main events, Bootes battled it out with the rest of the pros for 5th place both days in AA Pro. Wade is currently in the process of selling his house in Texas, so if your interested, send him an e-mail at Trekbmxpro@aol.com. Wade's sponsors include Trek/VW, Vans, Oakley, Powerbar, THE, Champion Nutrition/Revenge, Marwi, Headlock, Crupi, Answer, CTI 2, Bontrager, Chang Star, KMC, Profile, Velo, and Wellgo.

Jamie Staff was in the AA Pro main on Sunday, but having outside gates kept him back to 8th place overall. Jamie currently sits in the top 10 of the ABA Pro point standings, and is having one of his best racing season in the USA. Jaime's Sponsors include Haro, Adidas, Lee Pipe Jeans, Answer, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, ODI, Shimano, Kicker, Mavic, King, Epic, Powerbar, Headlock, Arnette, DV8, Marwi, and Profile.

Matt Hadan showed his late season charge as he was in the AA Pro main on Sunday. Sedalia's outside gates are almost impossible to win from, and give the rider an unfair advantage. Matt had outside gates so 7th was almost his destiny. Matt's sponsors include Torker, Troy Lee Designs, Airwalk, Crupi, Power Bar, Headlock, ODI, Tri-Flow, Kool Stop, Oakley, Tioga, Tangent, JNCO, and Champion Nutrition.

Jason Donnell kept up his consistency this weekend by making both the AA Pro and Open mains on Sunday. Jason placed 6th in both overall. This will help him crack into the top 10 of the ABA pro points standing. Look for Jason to do big things at the last 3 races of the 99 season. Jason's sponsors include Huffy, Fox, Champion Nutrition, Head Lock, THE, Epic, ODI, Airwalk, Craftsman, Easton, Shimano, Spanky Tires, Sun Rims, Tioga, Answer, and Power Bar,

Darrin Mitchell had a great weekend at the Gold Cup. Darrin has been flying on the track lately, and he put it all together on Sunday with a 4th place finish in Pro Open. Darrin has had some bad luck the past few races, but he has been out front on his Free Agent Bike, and is looking to take the top spot in a AA Pro main soon. Darrin's sponsors include Free Agent, Airwalk, Arnette, JNCO, Sonic, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Powerbar, and Answer.
