NBL Stars N Stripes and ABA East Coast Nationals July 3-4,1999
The Fourth of July weekend is a time for most people to relax and enjoy a
holiday weekend. There were a lot of BMX fans enjoying some really hot racing
action at both the NBL South Park national and the ABA South Carolina
National. Here is how the Double A Marketing Pros in attendance did:
NBL
Greg Romero joined Double A Marketing a few days before South Park, and gives
us a lot to talk about. On Saturday, at what is known as the best track in
the Country, Greg Showed all the AA Pros how to ride it as he placed 1st in
AA Pro and 8th in Pro Open. On Sunday, Primo raced for a 7th place finish
overall in AA Pro. Greg is looking for his first National #1 Pro title, and
the way his season has been going, he will be in contention for an NBL and
ABA #1 Pro title. Greg also currently leads the ABA Monster Cross title
chase. Greg's sponsors include Robinson, Panasonic Shock Wave, WD-40, Tal 5,
Shimano, AXO, Vans, Chevy Trucks, Revenge/Cytomax, ATI, Head lock, Calabasis
Cyclery, Core Fitness, Center Of Balance, Physical Performance Institute
Thomas Allier was in all 4 Pro mains in South Park; with 2nd being his worst
result, 2nd in AA Pro and 1st in Pro Open on Saturday and 1st in AA and Pro
Open on Sunday. Will his streak keep going on? We are going to see a classic
battle at the World Championships in 3 weeks in Thomas' Home country of
France. Thomas' sponsors include GT, Panasonic Shock Wave, WD-40, Oakley,
Dyno, Tal 5, AXO, ATI, Vans, Headlock, Powerbar, Revenge/Champion Nutrition,
Troy Lee, Shimano, and Easton.
Jason Richardson has been in a lot of main events this season and you can add
South Park both days to that list. On Saturday, Jason was in the AA Pro main
event and placed 6th on the TV day. On Sunday, 8th place in Pro Open was the
result posted by Jason. Jason's sponsors include Giant/Mosh, Answer, ATI,
Sonic, Vans, SDG, Epic, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Sun/Ringle, Profile, Spy,
Strait Edge, headlock, and Powerbar.
Randy Stumpfhauser has been defending his NBL Pro cruiser title this season,
and with another cruiser win on Saturday, he is doing a great job of it.
Randy also finished 8th Place in the AA Pro main on Saturday. On Sunday
Stumpy raced hard and finished 6th overall in AA Pro. Randy's sponsors
include Huffy, Oakley, Airwalk, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Headlock, Fox,
ATI, Sun Rims, Marwi, Shimano, CTI, Crupi, Powerbar, Easton, Tioga,
Craftsman, and Profile.
Christophe Leveque has always done well at South Park and 1999 was no
exception. Christophe had a crash on Saturday to keep him down, but not out.
On Sunday, Christophe finished 3rd overall in AA Pro and 4th in Pro Open.
Christophe's sponsors include Specialized/Mountain Dew, Crupi, Vans,
Powerbar, ATI, Fox, Oakley, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Troy Lee Designs,
Answer, Speed Stick, Sun Rims, and Spanky Tires.
ABA
Robert MacPherson went to South Carolina to be in all of the Pro mains and
that is just what he did. Robert has been known to be consistent and by
Placing 3rd in AA on Saturday and 4th in Open, he was just that. On Sunday
Robert Placed 4th in AA and 3rd in Open. Robert's Sponsors include Diamond
Back, Answer, Crupi, ATI, Vans, Tioga, Bell, Knucklebone, Oakley, Odyssey,
Powerbar, Marwi, Profile, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Headlock, and Troy Lee
Designs.
Wade Bootes was in all of the Pro Mains in South Carolina. Wade has been
flying lately and finishing 2nd on Saturday in AA Pro and 5th in Pro open
showed just how fast he has been going. On Sunday, Wade injured his knee, but
still managed to pull off a 6th place finish in AA Pro and 5th in Pro Open.
