BMX Update June 21, 1999

ABA Mid West and NBL Primm Nationals June 19-20,1999 Round 13 of the ABA and 12 of the NBL Pro Tours were held this past weekend. The ABA was in Rockford, IL. and the NBL was located in Primm, NV. With both events being taped for TV, there was a large pro turnout at both. The NBL is growing stronger on the West Coast and the event had a strong 165 motos. Rockford is known for fast racing on a smooth track, and that was just what went down at the “ROC.” Here is how the Double A Marketing Pros in attendance did:

Thomas Allier has been busy standing on the podium at the Nationals this season. At this weekends NBL National, Thomas was on the podium in AA Pro with a 3rd place overall on Saturday, but really shined on Sunday, as he was the winner of both Class and Open. Thomas’ only non top 3 finish was in Pro Open on Saturday, in which he crashed and finished 8th. Thomas' sponsors include GT/WD-40, Panasonic Shock Wave, Oakley, Dyno, TAL 5, AXO, ATI, Vans, Headlock, Powerbar, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Troy Lee, Shimano, and Easton.

Randy Stumpfhauser is getting stronger and stronger with each race weekend, and this weekend he was the strongest of the Cruiser riders with wins in Pro Cruiser both days. Randy was also in the mix of AA Pro with a 4th on Saturday and a 3rd on Sunday. Randy's’ sponsors include Huffy, Oakley, Airwalk, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Head lock, Fox, ATI, Sun Rims, Marwi, Shimano, CTI, Crupi, Powerbar, Easton, Tioga, Craftsman, and Profile.

Christophe Leveque has been quietly and successfully backing up his great 1998 season, and is headed for a great battle for both national titles. Christophe had a great day on Saturday and finished 3rd in the Pro Open main and 6th in AA Pro. On Sunday, Leveque raced his way to 4th in AA Pro. Wade Bootes was on fire this weekend in Rockford with 2nd place both days in AA Pro. Wade has been tearing up the Dual Slalom and Downhill races in NORBA so far this season and continues to bring home great BMX results. Wade has the making of one great extreme athlete. Look for Wade on his signature BMX Frameset at a national near you this summer. Robert MacPherson raced the ROC and had great results as he made all 3 of the Pro Mains. Robert's best finish came on Sunday as he placed 5th in both AA Pro and MonsterCross. On Saturday a few crashes kept Robert back to 8th, but still its impressive just to be in the AA Pro main. Jamie Staff was riding awesome in Rockford. 3rd place in AA pro on Saturday was a great and difficult result to get. He was another of the riders who made all of the Pro mains, and he placed 7th in AA on Sunday as well as 8th in MonsterCross. Jason Richardson rode the ROC well and placed 4th in AA Pro on Saturday. Making all 3 pro mains was an accomplishment that Jason earned as well. He finished 6th in MonsterCross and 8th in AA Pro on Sunday. Jason has been flying as of late on his Mosh machine.
