ABA East Coast Nationals Burlington, NC May 13-14
Round 10 of the ABA 2000 Pro series kicked off another great weekend for the Double A Marketing pros. It seems of late, that they have been the only ones winning at the races, and this weekend Thomas Allier, Jamie Staff and Greg Romero were the guys to beat! With a small turnout for the race, it made it that much harder on the Pros, but the riders who are fit, came out on top. Here is how the Double a Marketing riders in attendance finished up: Jamie Staff who is currently leading the ABA pro points chase, has been the most consistent Pro in the ABA this season. He has been in the top 3 of the results at almost every race he has entered. Jamie once again crushed the pro class with a giant win both days, on Saturday in Pro Open and Sunday in AA pro. When not winning Jamie placed 3rd in AA on Saturday and 2nd in Open on Sunday. Thomas Allier bounced back from 2 terrible crashes last weekend, to being the guy to beat on Saturday, as he won AA pro and placed 2nd in Open. On Sunday Thomas was back in action, and was just edged out by Staff in the AA mains. Greg Romero is proving that riding with SPD pedals is not the only way to win BMX races. When all the guys started to clip in, Greg just commented that he would just train harder, and by his results in North Carolina, you can tell it has worked. On Saturday, Greg Powered his way to a 2nd in AA. On Sunday, Romero waited until the last turn, but passed Staff for the win in Pro Open. Either way, Greg is giving hope to all the kids out there who are against clip pedals! Christophe Leveque is also keeping up his consistent year, with 2 more great Main event finishes in AA pro this weekend. On Saturday, Leveque had to settle for 6th, but came back strong on Sunday with a 3rd. Christophe is off to Woodward on Monday for the 2001 Specialized bike launch (BMXtreme.com will be there to cover it!), and he has said that he wants to learn back flips in their foam pit. Can a street contest be in the near future for him?
