NBL's Long Island National
by London Wilmont, Bizarro Racing Anyone who attended the NBL's Long Island National this past weekend knows it was pretty much a disaster! And in this riders mind, one simple machine could have saved the day. That machine would have been a Vibratory Roller. But now that the race is over and done with this is all irrelevant. There were to many different rumors floating around as to what exactly went wrong with the building process to discuss in this forum. Everyone who decided to race had to compete on the same soggy track, so the playing field was level. Many of Bizzarro National Team riders did flourish in these difficult conditions. Pro Report: Sub par track conditions meant the money was anyone's to grab. Justin Loffredo went down hard in day one's main, giving the victory to Dingo's Bob Rowley. Loffredo then used his home track advantage by pulling a huge come from behind victory on day 2, going from third to first on the last straight to pass Dan's Cimar Duarte, while Chris Keller held on for third. Bizzarro's A pro Shawn DiPrete decided to sit this one out and save his money for the upcoming Tar Heel National. Rider Performances: A few Bizzarro riders did decide to sit this one out due to the severe track conditions. Here's how the riders who did compete faired. Nick St. Lawrence (15X) Nick was on pace for a great performance through the moto's one day one, that is until the track finally got him while leading the main event. Landing hard on his head after coming up sort of the first straight doubles, Nick decided the risks weren't worth the reward and sat out day two's racing. Allen Currier (10X & Cru) Allen anchored the Team NBL sheet on day two with a big third in ten X. "Rolling Thunder" finish in the top four in all four of his main events for the weekend. Justin Lopes (21-24X) Yes college boy raced AGAIN, there's even talk of him attending the grand's this year! Justin pulled in a tough fifth on day one, this marked his fifth National of the season qualifying him for a National ranking, so this fact combined with track conditions meant he was a spectator on day two. We won't see Justin for the rest of the summer as he's off to his "Ferry parking lot" job to earn money for his college tuition! Randy Bitinaitis (30-34X & 16 and over Open) Randy is up for any riding conditions, and a big victory in 30-34X on day one proved it. However, some things are more important then racing, and when your child has a birthday party at Chuck-E-Cheese then Dad must attend! Eating Pizza on day two! Max Egdorf (9X & Cruiser) Max scored another perfect in cruiser on day one, and made all four of his mains for the weekend. A little mud doesn't stop Max! London Wilmot (30-34 cru) I picked up some great points this weekend and helped the National team sheet on day two, scoring seconds in both days main events. Walter Dunn (17X & cru) Walter picked up the win in cruiser on day one and finished second in his three other main s over the weekend. Walter's Father and Brother, both teammates, made they're mains in 40-44 cru and 13 novice also. Chris Decouto (25-29X) Just one lap kept Chris from a perfect weekend! Much like Nick, the doubles in the first straight got Decouto in day ones main event. Good thing we had two National team sheets in! Alberto Rodriguez (17 nov) Latin lover took enough time away from the ladies this weekend to take a few laps around the track. Thirds both days for Alberto, his brother Juan found some tough going in day ones 13 novice semi, and his Father raced his first National on day one. Mike Rogers (8X) Mike carried the load for the Bizzarro National Team this weekend, taking first in 7/8X both days. Mike did suffer a concussion from a hard fall in day twos third round, but still managed to win his main. Anthony Martin (35-39 cru) Mothman couldn't find anyone in his class tough enough to race him, so he got combined with my class 30-34. He still managed to make both days main events! Crashing hard on day two to end his weekend on a sore note! Team Competition: Unofficially the Bizzarro National team landed in the money positions both days. While the Bizzarro "NBL" team, or Trophy team as most like to call it, scored the win on day one! As always, official team results should be available by the beginning of next week.
