. . . Go Back to Press Releases (06.29.01) A new BMX term was invented this past weeked at the Rockford national, while stuttering over the race results. It's a little something called the "Bub'ble-Double." What's a "Bub'ble-Double" you ask?! That's when REDLINE's amateur superstar BUBBA HARRIS goes to Rockford, Illinois, enters both 15cruiser and 15expert and proceeds to open up a can of Whoop on all of his competition; winning every race he enters. The REDLINE Factory Squad of Hadan, Carnes and Harris were in beautiful Rockford, IL. this past weekend for one the biggest MID-WEST National in ABA history. And you guessed it; Redline ruled the race. With all of the Mid-West REDLINE copsonored teams in attendance, from Indiana's Dexter's Bike Shop, to Illinois' Fox-River squad, to Minnesota's Team RiteChoice, there were Redline's aplenty in practically every main event. In some cases, we counted 5 out of 8 bikes in the main event were Redline! Of course, the weekend highlight in racing would have to be the Factory Gang doing what they do best--winning! 15x BUBBA HARRIS not only won every moto, every quarter and every semi he was in, but he also went 4-for-4 in the his mains. REDLINE's AA-pro MATT HADAN also had a good weekend, with Pro Cruiser main events boith days, as well as making ProOpen on Saturday and Double-A on Sunday. The "Diesel" remained consistent in all, and kept the Redline colors up toward the front of the pack. His final results were a 2nd and a 3rd in ProCruiser, 4th in ProOpen and 5th in AA. Although he got in his street clothes a little sooner than he wanted, JASON CARNES was wreaking havoc on his 24"er. He and his partner in Redline--(Hadan), wound up sandwiching their friend Craig Reynolds on the ProCruiser podium--with a 3rd to go along with Matt's 2nd place. Congrats also go out to all of the Redline co-spo kids who were representing the red, white and black in true RL tradition... out front! Stellar performances were put in by RiteChoice's ADAM WELTER, Fox-River's KATIE SHEDIVY and way too many others to mention. Way to go! NATARSHA WILLIAMS and her XLR8R scored the ProGirls win on Saturday, and after a 1st-Main crash on Sunday, came back for a 3rd overall for day-two. One last highlight of Rockford was the 2nd Annual gathering of the OldSchool BMX Museum (presented by REDLINE and brought to you by retro websites OldSchoolBMX.com and RoostBMX.com). Personally, our favorite bike on display was Shinglehead's cherry 1976 Redline, and the award for "Best of Show" in the Cruiser category went to Ben Jerry's mint condition Torker 26". Jim Melton of JMC-fame also made an appearance, and Redline's STU THOMSEN was honored as the "All-Time Greatest Racer"-- voted on thru the Internet. Overall, it was such a big hit, that the next "Vintage Chromoly" gathering will be in Eugene, OR. at the Redline-sponsored Great Northwest Nationals. meanwhile... NEXT STOPS: Matt Hadan & Carne$ will be in New York this upcoming weekend, for the ABA Empire Nationals at Horseheads Park. Kim Hayashi is currently in Marquette, MI. as the official Girls Coach for the annual CAMP ABA. Her next race will be Southpark. Adam Strieby will be in StateCollege, PA. at the infamous WOODWARD CAMP, for the third and Final Round of the CFB Series. Will he unleash his latest trick on a unsuspecting crowd? Tune in next week to find out. The World is also anticipating the arrival of Australian wonder-pro KAMAKAZI--who lands on U.S. soil next week -- just in time for NBL's Southpark weekend; and then it will be on to the back-to-back ABA and NBL World Championships.
