. . . Go Back to Press Releases (07.17.01) UNI BMX, originators of the lightest bicycle seats ever produced, is back in full force and going strong with their line of 100% USA Made BMX Seats. The company, which dates back to the late 1970s, was founded by Roger Berg, who just happens to be the former General Motors design engineer that developed square headlights on automobiles in the early 1970s.
Though the mini seats have been copied by Taiwan companies for years, UNI BMX still holds the patent on the seat design and is offering the durable seats with a 5 year warranty. Recently, Berg named former Factory Uni rider, (1983-1984) Ken Pliska as Vice President of Operations for the firm. Pliska unveiled the new monocoque aluminum Uni Stealth seat line at the ABA Mid West Nationals in Rockford last month. The new Stealth Uni Seats are available with fiberglass or optional carbon fiber posts and the Mini weighs in a just 5 ounces. The classic Uni mini seats also tip the scales at 5 ounces with the new length posts. In addition to the mini seats, they are also producing the full size Turbo seats with a larger post for bigger riders. UNI BMX can be reached at UNIBMX@aol.com or at 1-800-832-2376
