DALE HOLMES WINS UCI WORLDS
Press Release

Fountain Valley, CA, July 30, 2001 - Nirve Sports' BMX elite pro Dale Holmes (GBR) boosted an already decorated career by winning the UCI (Union Cycliste Internationale) World Championships held in Louisville, KY, USA over the weekend. Holmes, 29, held off the best of the best as he raced to his second world AA pro-class title, the first coming in 1996. Perhaps motivated to better his second-place finish in the pro cruiser class on Friday, Holmes let all go in Sunday's AA pro-class finale. His AA pro-class gold and pro cruiser silver give Holmes a career total of nine World Championships medals to date. It should also be noted that Holmes spent all of June and early July nursing a broken wrist. He raced just one event in late July prior to attending the World Championships.

Nirve teammate Cristian Becerine (ARG), who unfortunately went out in the AA pro-class semi-finals, rebounded to participate in the gold medal ride by Argentina in the team relay event. The team relay is an event that pits four national team members (1 pro man, 1 pro woman, 1 junior man and 1 junior woman) against another nation's team, in a dash for points. In the final it was Argentina against France, with Argentina prevailing.

Holmes, Becerine and the rest of the Nirve pro team resume their series title chases and fall schedules this weekend.
