. . . Go Back to Press Releases (08.14.01) Powerlite's Pros Dominate Weekend! Powerlite/Chevy Tracker's newest addition Justin Loffredo dominated the first running of the downhill BMX event at the 2001 ESPN X-Games. Loffredo, a New York native, made the short trip to Central Pennsylvania memorable as he charged the mountain and put his Long Island trail skills to use. Justin was aboard his new Powerlite Coqpit XXL frame as he clocked the 4th fastest lap in the time trial qualifiers. That incredible performance allowed him to have his choice of gates throughout the event, and aided Justin in winning his semi-qualifier en-route to the main event. When the final 8 riders were loaded into the gate for the main event Justin was the top time to have survived the difficult qualifying process. An unfortunate start pushed Loffredo to the back of the pack, but his passing skills helped him claw his way back to a 5th place finish. Justin was excited to prove himself against the best BMX riders in the world and to make such an impressive showing in his new Orange and Black Powerlite colors. The race will be aired this Sunday, August 19th, on ABC's "Wide World Of Sports" at 1:00pm. Also filming this event were camera crews for the bigger than big screen IMAX theaters. IMAX is producing a film based on the 2001 ESPN X-Games that will be released in spring 2002. After filming the event IMAX producers have slated the downhill BMX event for significant time in the feature, so look for Justin Loffredo to be over 60 feet tall next spring. On the other side of the country Powerlite/Chevy Tracker's Levi Nordmark was in the process of climbing up the ABA's AA Pro point standings. Levi made his presence felt at the Great Northwest Nationals by pulling off a 2nd place finish in both AA Pro and Pro Open on Saturday. On Sunday Nordmark continued to own the podium as he pulled off an always impressive win in Pro Open and placed 3rd in AA Pro. The most amazing part of Levi's performance was the fact that he returned from a hard crash at the UCI World Championships only 2 weeks earlier to stand on the podium in ever class that he entered in Oregon. The next race for the Powerlite/Chevy Tracker team will be the ABA's Black Jack Nationals Labor Day Weekend, and Levi Nordmark and Justin Loffredo will be assaulting the Louisville, KY track for the NBL's Grand Nationals. Official co-sponsors include WD-40, Hot Wheels, Panasonic Shock Wave, Shimano, Lava, ACS claws, No Fear, IRC Tire Answer and Spy.
