College Television Network (CTN) To Provide Music, Feature Event On-Air

All Performances Free To Public _ Held In Gravity Games Festival Village

PROVIDENCE, R.I. _ The Gravity Games announced today that musical acts The Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Smash Mouth and Lit will be headlining the free concerts during the final weekend of competition at this year's event (September 7-9, 2001). Opening acts for Friday, Saturday and Sunday are Riddlin_ Kids, Unwritten Law and The Sound of Urchin, respectively. The musical entertainment for the Gravity Games is provided by College Television Network (CTN).

As part of the CTN-Gravity Games agreement, CTN provides musical entertainment for the Gravity Games as well as features the event and musical performances on their network broadcast to over 1,800 colleges and universities across the United States.

"We are excited to bring these bands live to the Gravity Games," said Sharyn Taymor, VP of Business Development for EMAP USA. Mighty Mighty Bosstones, Smash Mouth, and Lit are all multi-platinum-selling bands who want to break music from their new albums at the Games. In addition, the opening acts, Riddlin Kids, Unwritten Law and Sounds of Urchin are all perched for greatness in their own right. We're looking forward to a fantastic event."

The Mighty Mighty Bosstones will perform on Friday, September 7, at 6:30 p.m. The Bosstones formed in Boston in 1985 and are credited with laying the groundwork for the 1990's explosion of ska-core music. In 1993 they signed a major-label record deal with Mercury Records and in 1997 their hit album "Let's Face It" went platinum on the strength of the single "The Impression That I Get". Their most recent release, which is under the Island Records label, is titled "Pay Attention."

Opening for the Bosstones will be the Riddlin' Kids. Bucking the local tides of blues-rock, C&W, etc. since 1997, the Austin-based Riddlin' Kids forged a Texas-style punk-rock that has made them a major draw on the competitive hometown live music scene without them conforming to today's Gap-punk mold. The Riddlin' Kids' Lone Star twist on catchy pop-driven punk is showcased on their debut EP for Aware Records, "Any Day Now." Their debut album is out February 2002.

Smash Mouth will perform on Saturday, September 8, at 6:30 p.m. The band, who is named after Mike Ditka's term "smash mouth football", formed from a local cover band in San Jose, CA in 1994. In 1997, Smash Mouth signed with Interscope Records and released their debut album "Fush Yu Mang". The album went double platinum and the single "Walkin' on the Sun" reached number one on the charts. Their second album, "Astro Lounge" went triple platinum and featured hits "Can't Get Enough of You Baby" and "All Star". The band is set to release their third album, "Smash Mouth", which will hit stores in September.

"We are all huge fans of the Gravity Games and are stoked to finally get to experience it for ourselves," said Steve Harwell, lead singer for Smash Mouth. Opening for Smash Mouth will be Unwritten Law. Unwritten Law triumphs over convention and mediocrity with their new album, "The Sun," which combines intricate melodies, raw edged sincerity and ancient Egyptian mysticism. The lyrics are empowering with their wisdom and introspection and the music is overwhelming with its_ harmony, ferocity and virtuosity.

Lit will be the final musical act of the Gravity Games on Sunday, September 9, at 6:00 p.m. Lit formed nine years ago in Orange County, CA, and signed with RCA Records in 1999. Their first album, "A Place in the Sun", was released under RCA and their own Dry Martini label and featured hits "My Own Worst Enemy" and "Miserable". Their second release, "Atomic" which is also under the RCA/Dry Martini label, is due in stores October 9th and features the hit single "Lipstick and Bruises".

"RCA Records and Lit are thrilled to be associated with this years Gravity Games," said Joe DiMuro, RCA Sr. VP of Strategic Business Development. "It is a very relevant event-marketing platform that focuses on many of the key attributes associated with Lit: high voltage performances with a dedicated and devout consumer fanbase."

Opening for Lit will be The Sound of Urchin. The Sound of Urchin are grabbing their knickers and readying themselves to release their major label debut on RCA Records in January 2002. The four band members, nicknamed Tomato 11, The Reverend B. ILL, Hollywood Scotty Choc, and Doo Doo Brown (there are many aliases) are half Brooklyn, NY, half New Hope, PA. They just recorded the full-length album in Chicago with producer extraodinaire Keith Cleversley. Titled "You Are the Best", it_s like musical jambalaya with lots of different ingredients including reggae, 70's AM radio, hardcore, and hip hop.

All six bands continue the tradition of platinum-selling artists performing at the Gravity Games. Since its_ inception in 1999, the Gravity Games have hosted Foo Fighters, Busta Rhymes, Kid Rock, Oleander, Fenix TX, Reel Big Fish and Sevendust. ABOUT THE GRAVITY GAMES
