TEAM LIZARD STEPS UP FOR GRAVITY GAMES
SoBe Beverages Supports Athletes in the Quest For Gravity Gold
NORWALK, CT - August
27, 2001 - SoBe's Team Lizard athletes are gearing up for the 2001 Gravity
Games, which will be held in Providence, RI from September 1 - September
9. The competitors will gather in the "Ocean State" for some serious throw-down
action, featuring some of the fiercest competition in years. From skateboarder
Andy Macdonald and motocrosser Trevor Vines to the legendary street luger
Biker Sherlock and the MacNeil/SoBe BMX crew, Team Lizard is sure to walk
away with some glittering podium finishes.
Big Mac Update
Andy Mac walked away with a gold-medal win in the skateboarding vert doubles
at the recent 2001 X-Games, where he partnered with skateboarding legend,
Tony Hawk. Big Mac also placed in the top five in the individual vert
finals, and is ranked second in World Cup standings. He's skating strong,
and is sure to showcase some smooth tricks at this year's Gravity Games.
Look for him on the vert ramp.
Trevor in the News
With more wins this year than in any other year, Trevor Vines looks like
a strong contender for the motocross finals. He walked away with a first-place
win at the X-Trials qualifier in Colorado Springs and finished in the
top ten at the recent 2001 X-Games. Trev's tucked a bunch of new tricks
up his sleeve and will be pulling them out for Gravity, so check out him
out on the dirt course.
Biker Sherlock Rides
Again
King of the street luge and downhill skateboarding events, the legendary
Biker Sherlock will step up to recover his Gravity Games title. At last
year's Gravity Games, Biker walked away with a second-place win in the
two-man downhill skateboarding event. He's back for revenge, and hopes
to make a comeback in both the downhill skateboarding and street luge
events at Gravity 2001. Look for Biker tearing down College Hill on September
1st and 2nd.
MacNeil/SoBe BMX
Crew In The House
The newest addition to Team Lizard is the MacNeil/SoBe BMX team. Jay Miron,
one of the best BMXers in the world, heads up the crew. Jay recently took
home a bronze medal in the BMX stunt park finals at the X-Games, and his
MacNeil/SoBe teammate, Alistair Whitton walked away with the silver. Jay
and Alistair will be pulling out some big airs and insane new tricks for
the 2001 Gravity Games, so be sure to check out the MacNeil SoBe BMX team
on the vert ramp or in the stunt park.
