GOLD IN GRAVITY GAMES BIKE STREET COMPETITION PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Ryan Nyquist (Greenville, NC) won his first Gravity Games Gold Medal in Skateboard Street, after consecutive silver's in 1999 and 2000. Last year's Gold Medal winner Dave Osato (Port Coquitlam, BC) won the silver and Chad Kagy (Gilroy, CA) won the bronze. One of the best and most versatile BMX riders, Nyquist was the only competitor to compete in all the Bike events (Dirt, Street and Vert) at the 2000 Gravity Games. In 1999 he gold at both Gravity and the X-Games in Bike Dirt and was the only rider to place in the top-10 in Dirt, Vert and Street at the X-Games. BIKE STREET In the Street competition, riders do runs through a skatepark style street course and are judged by an overall impression of how well they rode. Street contests incorporate skills from all types of riding - Vert, Dirt and Flatland. Difficulty of tricks is rewarded, as is flow, speed and course utilization. The Gravity Games are the most-attended, highest-rated action sports event in the world. The 2000 Gravity Games drew nearly 370,000 spectators to Providence and was nationally televised on NBC.
