Zoinks! ... The current membership at CLUB REDLINE is 837 members strong; and growing each day. We'd like to welcome all of those who just signed up via the Redline Website; and remind everyone to tell a friend about Club Redline. It's one of the few things in the bike industry that is FREE, and you'll get all of the Redline News & Gossip months before you ever read it in the magazines. (For instance--we told you about Adam Strieby's Trip to Russia way back in May as it happened ... but the rest of the World is just reading about it in the newest issue of BMX PLUS! (December's edition - on newsstands now). Get the point? Tell your friends to sign up. Now - for all of you Redline fans (magazines, co-sponsors, co-spo riders, etc) -- here is what's happening with the No.1 BMX bike and team on the planet: REDLINE TAKES 9+ WINS
@ FALLS KIM HAYASHI double-doubled and at times, was seen leading her cruiser main by half a straightaway! With not one crash all weekend, it looks as if we were correct when stating that she's spent all of her "crash" tokens for the year. Now, it's winnin' time! Her GirlCruiser wins both days will no doubt uphold her current lead in national point standings; putting her right on target for repeating the ABA No.1 title. BUBBA HARRIS was rippin' it up in usual fashion, and is dreaming of possibly turning pro next year! 3 wins out of 4 ... the one 3rd place he got was due to spinning on the gate (kinda like a NHRA dragster -- wheels got all big, oval and all bloated... smokin' 'n all, before the gate fell... well, almost). Anyway--he was flying but didn't have a huge rider-count, so probably didn't gain much in points. Word from everyone is that no one, and we mean NOBODY, could beat Bub' ... although in cruiser on Saturday, some kid named Tyler Brown had the lead to the finishline, and Bubba stole it from it right before the finish! Reports also said there were big doubles down the last straight, reminecent of the 2000 ABA Grands, and Bubb'ster was jumping them every time, even X-ing it up to the crowd .... many pros weren't jumping them. JA$ON CARNE$ had quite a weekend, too. He signed up for VetPro, and proceeded to whup up on Barry Nilson and the boys -- so much so, that there was a VetPro Meeting with the ABA head-honchos to get Carnes out of there. They cried that he was messing up their title-chase. So, without talking to Carnes, they moved him to single-A Pro. The 30-yer-old truck driver just wanted to race, said "Whatever," and proceeded to whup up on all the single-A's. Proving there's a $-sign in his last name for a reason; Carnes weekend toll was: 1st on Saturday as a Vet! 1st on Sunday as a single-A! He tells us, "It felt good to be out front again. I battled it out with the old men on Saturday, and then they put me in with the Kids on Sunday" ... either way, Jason and his Redline Proline proved that they both have what it takes to stand atop any pro podium! Word has it that CLARENCE PERRY took a 2nd on Saturday, unknown finish on Sunday. In all--the 330-moto Fallnationals was a great weekend for for Redline; as well as the sport of BMX. And was a great sign of things to come in Tulsa; the final race left in 2001. STREIBY WINS LAST CONTEST
OF YEAR "It was cold and I was hungry, so I went to go eat, figuring it'd take so long for the ams to do their runs." (Did he go to his usual; Subway? "No, not this time," he said, disapointedly.) "But when we got back, they were halfway through Pro practice," Adam continued. "And I hadn't even signed up yet. So I almost didn't even compete, but I didn't come all the way there not to ride." Strieby whipped out his shiny, white 2002 Supa-X, and proceeded to take care of business. "I just did a bunch of silly tricks," he tells us half-joking/half semi-serious. "I pulled my new one--the *IRON MONKEY and the whip-flip," he told us modestly. "Just went big! And the crowd was going crazy!" Among Adam's comp was X-Games Gold medalist (in Street) Bruce Crisman, Rich Hirsch, Jimmy LeVan and Darden - to name a few. And when the judges scores were tallied up, ADAM STRIEBY was given the sweet street victory. How'd he celebrate the win? "I had a plane to catch in L.A., so I literally raced back to Southern California. Made it just on time." Congrats go out to Streiby - whose resume for 2001 includes winning the first contest of the year (Tuscon) and the last one (San Fran), along with one in the middle. We have a very strong feeling that you'll see a LOT more of Adam in 2002 holding up the big checks in some of the biggest comps of next year. PROMAX ON BOARD FOR
2002! Redline and ProMax have some big plans for next season, with a "Give You a Brake" promotional campaign ... (Hint: It has nothing to do with KitKat bars.) Redline's 2002 Team--including Bubba Harris, Kim Hayashi and Jason Carnes, will be sporting ProMax V-type brakes and the smooth ProMax cables. Many of the new stock Redline bikes feature the super sharp ProMax CNC'd brakes. They're not only good looking, but will stop you on a dime and give you nine cents change! Check 'em out an your nearest dealer, or on Redline team riders' bike next year. THE CHASE FOR SILVER
CUPS & No.1's In our "dream world"--Bubba Harris could take home No.1 Amateur, Kim Hayashi will easily repeat her No.1 Girl Cruiser title, Clarence Perry will finally take home No.1 Cruiser, and either Matt Hadan or Jason Carnes have a extremely good shot at National No.1 Pro Cruiser. Here's how the points look right now (*not including the Fallnationals) : Here's how the points are looking: AMATEUR
