Double A Marketing BMX Race Report
ABA Grand Nationals Tulsa, OK
Nov. 24-25, 2001

The ABA season ending event, the Grand Nationals, was held this past weekend in Tulsa, and there was much anticipation going into the weekend. The Grand's tracks are usually always a great lay out and big pro section, but this year the track seemed very basic with a small, minimal challenge jump. The tracks basic layout was due to the bigger turnout and trying to get the race over earlier, and not meant to challenge the older experts and Pro's. Even with the tame track, it made for a great weekend of racing and 2 Pro titles, AA and Pro Cruiser, for the Double A Marketing riders. Here is how the Double A Marketing Pros who made the mains finished up:

Warwick Stevenson finished up a great year in stellar fashion, winning the ABA AA #1Pro title. A tight battle all season long with Christophe Leveque ended when Leveque was cut off in the ¼ final, and Danny Nelson, who was unable to beat him, by 5 spots, in the main event. Warwick finished 2nd for the day, but took the biggest title of his young career, ABA #1 Pro. Warwick's sponsors include Diamondback, Thor, Promax Brakes, FSA Headsets, Answer, AC Components, Smith, Ballistic, Dope, Vans, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, Ballistic, Powerbar, Head Lock, and BMXpros.com.

Randy Stumpfhauser can now be called the king of the Cruiser, as he holds the title in both the ABA and NBL for 2001. It was a 4-way battle for the title, and Stumpdawg wound up on top, with a 2nd in the main event, giving him the points to take the year-end #1 plate. Look for Stumpy to have a big old #1 on his cruiser in both sanctions all next year. Randy was also in the Pro Open main, and crashed in the first turn, finishing up 6th. Randy's sponsors include Huffy, Smith eye wear, Vans, AC Components, Control Tech, Revenge Sport, Champion Nutrition, Headlock, Fox, Marwi Ti Spokes, CTI 2, and BMXpros.com.

Jamie Staff had a busy weekend at the Grand's with racing both the race of Champions and the Grand Nationals. Jamie started off with a 4th in the ROC and then took his Haro bike into the AA and Pro Open mains, placing 7th in AA and 8th in Pro Open. Jamie finished off a great year in style. Jaime's Sponsors include Haro, Adidas, No Fear, Lee Pipes, O'Neal Helmets, Smith Eye Wear, Revenge, Champion Nutrition, Answer Forks, Shimano, Kicker, Bob's Stores, BMXpros.com, and Headlock.

Matt Hadan entered his last race weekend for Redline and wanted to make an impression on the crowd and old teammates. On Friday, Matt raced the ROC and made all 3 main events, finishing 2nd in Pro Cruiser, 3rd in AA, and 6th in Pro Open. Come the Grand's, Matt was looking to win the Pro Cruiser title, but a 6th place in the main held him out of the title chase. Matt plans once again being one of the top AA's next season, with a new sponsors and a new attitude. Matt's sponsors include Redline, Troy Lee Designs, Tangent, Smith, Flick Trix, Tioga, Alex Rims, Nintendo Power, Head Lock, ATI, Kore, TSG, Kool Stop, BMXpros.com, Rush, and Revenge Sport/Champion Nutrition.

Grant White looked at the Grand's as his chance to show off his talents in Pro training and win his first American Pro Title. When the Cruiser gate slammed down, Stumpy was gone, and Grant had to settle for 5th overall. Grants Sponsors include Free Agent, O'Neal, Bombshell, AC, Smith, THE, Tioga, Etnies, ODI, BMXtrainer.com, Powerbar, Revenge/Champion Nutrition, BMXpros.com, ACS, Marwi, Headlock, Sun Ringle, and SDG.

Wade Bootes went into the Grand's with one thing on his mind, to promote his sponsors to the best of his ability. Wade started off the weekend with making the pro spectacular main event and placing 7th overall. Come Grand's time, Wade looked strong in the moto's but a crash caused him to injure his hand and made for some tough racing. Wade continued on and made it to the Pro semi, where he placed 5th overall, not transferring it to the main event. Wade did however give away 10 jerseys over the weekend, giving away the jersey off his back after each race he did. Wade looks to regain his ABA title next season. Wades Sponsors include Trek, VW, AC, Bombshell, ATI, Vans, O'Neal, Marwi, THE, Oakley, Revenge, toolshed, Champion Nutrition, Head Lock, Azonic, and BMXpros.com.
